"it was just happenstance that I happened to be there"

Square Peg Theatre was founded almost by chance when Michael sent out a casting looking for actors interested in physical theatre. The goal was to bring together like-minded invidiuals to form a collective of sorts that would make work. As fate would have it Katie was the only person to apply and the rest, as they say, is history.

The first production they made together was a small two-hander called Forwards and Backwards. It was a tester show that enabled them to put their skills and ideas into practice. The show did the usual circuit of Fringe Festivals – Buxton, Camden & Brighton – even winning Katie the award for 'Best Actress.'

Then, in 2012 they recieved their first commission from Creative Industries Trafford to make The Man Who Woke Up Dead. Not soon after they became a 'Developed With' artist supported by Lowry Theatre and an Associate Artist at Harrogate Theatre.

As they continue to make work their ethos remains the same – to create bold original work and reimagine classic texts to combine beautifully choreographed physical theatre with compelling character driven stories.

To date they have produced four productions that have toured nationally. They are currently developing their fifth produciton The Return.
