About Us

As the name suggests, Square Peg Theatre does not fit neatly into a performing arts category. Rather we are a hybrid of dance, theatre and music artists bringing together modern, cutting edge performance that challenges our audiences’ thinking and perceptions. Square Peg was founded in 1991 by Andrew Roundhole a senior teacher at the Glasgow School of Performing Arts. Andrew was frustrated by the traditional approaches to the theatre and the unnecessary demarcation or different types of theatre. Following his renowned direction of the Olivier Award nominated ‘Red Daylight’ he obtained a grant from the National Lottery to launch his own theatre company and hence Square Peg was born!
